Problem with contacts El capitain

I have exactly the same problem. Anyone out there got a work round this. Contacts still on my phone and I pad but not on mac. It sates NO CARDS.

Tried time machine but would not let me do anything.

You can try a trick that has worked to restore Contacts from flakey behavior.

Go to your user ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook and remove these files.

AddressBook-v22.abcddb

AddressBook-v22.abcddb-shm

AddressBook-v22.abcddb-wal

Start Contacts and see if it re-indexes the vCards and displays them correctly.

~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook

I got to the first 2folders, but there was no `AddressBook´ folder in the Appication Support folder!

You're looking in the wrong place. You are looking in /Library which is on the root level of the hard drive.

You need to look inside your user Library. If it is not visible in your home folder, hold down the Option key and select Library from the Go menu in Finder.

When I go to

user ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook

AddressBook is not there.

Now what?

Then you have nothing to make it work. The folder is the location of the metadata and index for the contacts.

Try restoring that folder from your backup.

Not working for me.

Apple store cannot resolve that either.

I'm not happy user too, right now.

This is a clean install. why? 🙂

I have 3 contacts only, all iCloud files, all the FaceBook, Exchange, Hotmail contacts disappeared.

Deleting the 3 AddressBook-v22... files did not help me.

All of those accounts are "in the cloud" so you should only have to add the accounts back into Internet Accounts and they should re-populate from the servers.

I just solved the "problem" myself... and it was ridiculously simple. I clicked on View and chose "View groups" and all my contacts "reappeared". Ha ha.

I have deleted the files

AddressBook-v22.abcddb

AddressBook-v22.abcddb-shm

AddressBook-v22.abcddb-wal

And did´t work, even deleting: com.apple.AddressBook.plist.

I have created a new user and turned on iCloud Sync; Contacts synced perfect! … But I don't want to use the "new" user account, because at home, in another MacBook Pro it works fine.

Deleting the three files in the ...Library/ApplicationSupport/AddressBook folder did NOT Work.
