el capitan cardDAV sync broken?

Whe you say your address server you mean your owncloud/carddav server ?

Where the UUID is comig from ? How did you get it ?

As I wrote it is an OS X Snow Leopard server which runs an carddav server out of the box.

The UUID, actually the whole URL I found in the Contacts/Account settings of a Yosemite client. It could also be seen in the ElCapitan client until I started to mess around with it because carddav was not working.

i'm in the middle of billing jobs and now the migration cost me all my client's contacts and related calendars... had to export everything manually from the owncloud. apple fix this asap!

Same problem here... installed El Capitan today and since then no syncing of contacts and calendar possible. (Before in Yosemite there was no problem.)

Also tried the workarounds and was not successful...

I just ran into this problem myself. caldav works fine, but can't get carddav to work. I can add both without problems on my iOS devices. It really does seem to be a problem with El Capitain...

the problem still exists in my Macs. I am syncing Contacts an Calendar with owncloud 8.2.1.

Any news on this issue?

I'm running 10.11.2 and was trying to sync against Apple's own calendarserver project (which supports CardDAV) and ran into issues with sync failing to even be set up. The CardDAV set up dialog would not initiate a network connection after attempting to set up an account under Manual and Advanced options. I had to provide the full path (hostname + server path) in the server address field for the client to actually successfully connect. This is definitely a bug and will hopefully be fixed soon.

Just upgraded to 10.11.3… and still impossible to add any carddav or caldav account. Do Apple really care about any other non-iCloud service ?

I downloaded the trial of Fantastical (calendar app) and there's absolutly no problem setting up my owncloud calendar !

Same with BusyContacts (Contact manager app), carddav account setting is just fine...

This issue comes from El Capitan…

I guess the OS X developers need to pay the iOS developers a visit. It shouldn't be to hard to replace the faulty code with the functional iOS code...

Upgrading a laptop yesterday, I can confirm that 10.11.3 has not fixed the issue. Still cannot add accounts. I had to revert to Yosemite on the laptop to restore CalDAV and cardDAV sync with my Mavericks server.

I realize non-iCloud sync is a fringe configuration but after 3 updates I'd like to see Apple quash this El Capitan bug.

@giri_s, you were ultimately able to add a CardDAV account from El Capitan through the Advanced options dialog? Other than using hostname/server path for the server address, you left the server path setting as per Yosemite?

I set the server path to what the Darwin Calendar server required, which was /principals/_uids_/<UUID> I believe

Carddav really isn't a brand new thing that popped up all of a sudden.

Even a average part time developer can handle this.

Seems to me that you would like everybody to go with your iCloud sh... .In that case i would say f*** of apple.

C'mon apple, give us a rest and pimp up your banana version of El Crapitan.

I remember times where you delivered REAL hard and software.

To much i-consumer crap nowadays for my taste.
