Carddav really isn't a brand new thing that popped up all of a sudden.

iCloud already is carddav. Apple have been using it for many years.

I can cofirm. 10.11.3 does not fix this issue.

Another thing I need to find an alternative for. Somehow there are not many apple apps left now, that are usable. Wake up. Writing privacy convern open letters and delivering and not fixing such a bug for months is a shame.

Well...what a surprise El Crapitan supports iCloud...

but still it does not support CardDAV, period.

I was wondering if anyone tried to replace the systemfiles for carddav with the ones from yosemite?

I can't do it here, because I skipped yosemite...

I did so many things - so who cares if I change more system files - so that it works...

No! In my configuration (Client OS X 10.11.4, Server OS X 10.7.5) i get still the same error: "Accountname/Passwort konnte nicht überprüft werden"

I don't have a local server to check this out. It's working with my Owncloud server in my webspace.

With your local OS X Server it should work if you configure the account like this:

Be sure to use the right port.

Even in 10.11.4 the configuration of a new OwnCloud Calendar (CalDAV) is impossible. The funny thing is, those accounts that were set up in Yosemite still work in ElCap. But not so with new ones! Any fix for OwnCloud CalDAV without whacky server programming?

CalDAV and Owncloud did already work with OS X 10.11.3. But CardDAV has been the problem.

Under 10.11.4 also CardDAV and Owncloud is working fine. All my accounts are set up from scratch.

I'm inclined to believe this issue is with the clients. I'm running Mac OS X Server 5.1 on El Capitan 10.11.4. After the latest updates on all Macs (clients & server) I can't sync carddav. In my case, this is an Apple-to-Apple configuration that stopped working. I've even analyzed network packets & can clearly see the data making it to the server, but logins, new or old accounts, are timing out. I see a lot of threads started on this issue occurring after OS updates with multiple carddav services/servers, not just ownCloud or Gmail.

My CardDav sync issue seems to be fixed in 10.11.5. 🙂

Hey Grumero: This looks like an older version of OS X - are you sure your are running OS X 10.11?

I asume they will never fix it. Use icloud. Well maybe I try Linux....

What if OwnCloud is installed on a shared server, where the user typically has no access to the Apache .conf files?

I have just upgraded (a bit of an oxymoron, since this so-called "upgrade" has created numerous major issues) from 10.10.5 to 10.11.6, and I can't use my existing CardDav entry, and I can't add a new one.

Is there any other way to go about resolving this than editing Apache configuration files?
