Blue Yeti is not working in either garage band or logic pro since el capitan update

I am using Logic pro and latest garage band but whenever I select my blue yeti mic as the input device it disconnects it after a second or two with a message saying the device has been removed and the computer input will be used. It worked great before the update. Anyone else having the same issue?

Hi Bazzakuda, I just started trying to record something with my new MacBook that I got last year and I am getting the same message about my Yeti being disconnected. This is the first time I have tried using it with this new macbook. Do you know how I fix it? I am a novice recorder and not very technically inclined. Thanks for your help!

I am so sorry for the late reply sunnyhapa90278 I didn't get a notification stating you replied to me haha how did you go? did the cheap USB cable work? have you updated your software as I have had no issue whatsoever since apple had updated logic pro x 🙂

once again i do apologise for the late reply.

So this is definitely an Apple OS problem. I can't get my yeti to work through the sound preferences, or any of apples software, but it works just fine in all my adobe apps.

Update: I did try the cable thing mentioned above (I just found a different USB cable around the house) and seems to be working now, I also noticed, I had to crank up the gain a bit too... Seems to be less sensitive through the OS.

There have been many reports of the Blue Yeti (and other older USB devices) having issues under 10.11 since at least early July....

Suggestion: Try using a powered USB2 hub if you are connecting the Yeti via a USB3 port on you Mac

Failing that.. Roll back using your backups and OS X Recovery.. to 10.10.....

No backups.. Lesson learned.

Is Apple doing anything about it?

The problem more likely lies with the Mic and it's USB implementation based on past history...... so it's up to the device's Devs to resolve the issue.

But it is possible that Apple might tweak a few things to provide better compatibility for such devices...

Certainly revert back to Yosemite for the time being, yes.

As for what the fix will be or where it will come from is unknown.

It might be Apple could release a fix or you may need to install a driver or some other form of update from Yeti to resolve the issue..

Time will tell.

Too soon to say for sure either way, however.

I have a Shure PG42 USB and am having an issue as well.

It will begin recording normally and then suddenly I get a repetitive recording loop (for example one syllable of a word) and then eventually get an error message.

(Below)

It's infuriating, as it didn't happen before I updated, and now I can't do my work.

Massive time suck.

Exactly the same problem for me. I then tried my AVID MBox, but the same Captain issue appeared... I should have waited to install it, according to AVID:

Hope Apple and both Yeti and AVID are going to solve this SOON!!!
