to use the "java" command-line tool you need to install a jdk

1) Right-click Finder

2) Select 'Go To Folder'

3) Type in the search window " ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ "

4) If available, right-click the file " com.facebook.videochat.USERNAME.plist "

5) Select " Move to Trash "

6) Empty Trash

7) Restart Mac. Message should no longer be popping up.

I'm not using Facebook, but I get this message. Just updated older Mac to Yosemite and this seems to be the ONLY glitch so far! If anyone has further suggestions, I would be deeply grateful.

You would be better off downloading the JDK 8 from Oracle. It is not a great idea to install the old JDK6 from Apple. The default links you get to "update java" installs just the browser plugin.

Thanks for this. I didn't want to download an old Java distribution, I wanted to fix the cause of the issue. In my case, this old FB chat plugin was it, so you saved me a bunch of time. :-)

Yay - it works! Had the same issue on the MacBook Pro after installing the last 2 OSs, and today after installing Sierra.

Worked perfectly! I not only deleted the Facebook reference from LaunchAgents, but all the other old trash too. No more Java JDK notices! Thanks for the help!
