Firewire audio devices not recognized by Mac Pro early 2009

I have a Mac Pro early 2009 that I use for Pro Tools audio recording. Over a year ago after I upgraded to Mavericks I lost use of my Apogee Ensemble. I only used the Ensemble for digital audio stereo playback. Since this time I have been forced to use the headphone jack as my audio output. This output has become increasingly noisy so I am trying to re establish the use of the Apogee Ensemble. The problem is that no matter how many times I try to install software or firmware and update the firewire audio device my Mac is not seeing it. It is not listed in the firewire bus list of devices and is not listed in sound devices in my system preferences. I have tried repairing permissions in disk utility without success as I had seen this as a possible fix.

Has anyone had experience with a problem like this ???

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Apogee Ensemble, and Apogee duet

I Have an iSight webcam and the audio does not work with Yosemite on my 2009 MP. Also, the video causes problem when I screen share fro another Mac.

On my 2012 Mac Mini, for my iSight camera audio does not work and frame rate on the video is one frame about ever 20 seconds.

Thus, it seems Apple is not support FW devices that well with the later OS versions
