What is the solution for using canon mp 980 with os yosemite ?

Go to the Canon website and download a compatible driver.

Thats not very helpful is it... its clearly not that simple otherwise a post wouldn't have been made here.
Yosmite 10.10 apparently seems to struggle with the MP980 I can't find a driver for it either
The last driver that Canon released for the MP980 was for OS X 10.9. This driver should install and operate on 10.10 so here is a link to the driver.
