El Capitan won't Boot after update

I installed El Capitan and it was booting fine. Then I installed the latest update and after the restart, the Mac loads the Apple logo and then screen goes white and it just freezes there. I tried restarting holding shift to log into safe mode and it remains white. I've even held down command and R to get the recovery mode to load. I see are the boot options but when I select one, I just goes into a white screen.

Thanks to jaccofromalmere, removing exactly and only this file worked for me too.

I had upgraded to El Capitan.

Then days later there was this update (the recent most update as of my writing this on 13 Oct 2015) after which when I restarted my Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2012, it got stuck at the start screen having Apple logo and the progress bar empty.

The only thing that I did that worked was:

01 Restart and keep Cmd-R pressed to boot into recovery mode

02 From the Utilities menu open Terminal

03 Typed the command to reach this location: cd /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/System/Library/Extensions/

04 Then move this particular file to another location with this command: mv EltimaAsync.kext /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Users/YOURLOGINNAME

05 Restart

El Capitan booted successfully!

Hope that helps.

Hi Argott

I too have macFuse. I'm currently doing a new time machine backup. (2-3 days 3TB), once it done i will try and remove macFuse

and give it a go. I have rename my hard drive & even removed startup programs, then i did a "StartUp Disk"

this worked GREAT, but the next day the problem return.

Can you confirm it still boots up fine after removing macFuse? Which macFuse version did you have

Beta Version 2.2.0.0

Standard Version 2.0.3.2

by the way the only way i can remove macFuse is by using a "Trash It" once Time Machine done ill reboot and check.

In my case, I've made clean install of El Capitan and my Imac (2011) fixed the problem of hanging up on progress bar but now keep restarting in a loop, boot on Recovery Mode but could find EltimaAsync.kext on /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/System/Library/Extensions/ or anywhere on my system on Terminal.

Now i'm triying removing aditional RAM (keeping the "Lifetime" branded) and reinstalling all over to see if worked, will let you know.

Guys, I had this exact problem. It is because the security in EC is different than in previous versions and the kext files from older apps are not allowing it to boot. I spent about 20 minutes online with Max (********@gmail.com) and he wrote a script to isolate the offending kext files. I think he may be charging a small fee but it worked flawlessly and I have had no issues since.
