external hard drive now read only after el capitan update

Go to system preferences type in the search window Tuxera NTFS go to the about section and click to go to website. You will be directed to the website to download the compatible version. You get the TRIAL version or have to put in your activation number again? OR pay $31 a year.

THIS IS THE BEST SOLUTION and this should work for all external drives as it will enable NTFS

Find the folder 'Mac Driver' in your Toshiba Hard Drive and reload 'Tuxera NTFS for Mac.dmg'. You should be able to read & write now.

If you can't find the free file that came with your hard drive...search for it on the internet.

This was easiest solution for Toshiba external hard drive. Re-installed Tuxera NTFS for Mac.dmg from Mac Driver folder in my external hard drive as you recommended and whah-lah...I now have both read/write permissions!!

Hey guys, I was having the same problem with my Toshiba 1TB after I updated to El Capitan but I found the fix. Go to: http://www.tuxera.com/products/tuxera-ntfs-for-mac/ ,download the program and restart your computer. Everything went back to normal for me. Hope this helps!

Does not respect those who develop applications without paying for Apple.

Many software that working fine, just crashed with the **** El Captain.

I'm already using, for example, thunderbird instead of the Mail and I am very satisfied.

Paragon and Tuxera are traditional software to read and write NTFS format and have always worked very well. With El Captain crashed.

And we are still forced to listen to stupid answer from Apple that you must use Apple's format.

My patience limit with Apple arrived at the end and I'm definitely migrating to Linux.

And I'm Apple user since 1986 !!! I've never seen such serious software problems. Just look at the Apple Store evaluation of users with all Apple applications.

Tuxera never worked all that well for me. I periodically had to wait for updates to get it working. I switched the drives to ExFAT and never had another

problem.

On my toshiba external drive there is a folder Mac Driver (tuxera) i installed them and the writing permission came back.

Yes !!! I installed Linux in my MAC Book Pro Retina Display and really I am very impressed

All things work very very fast, really very fast. All applications that I was used in Mac has a similar in Linux, and better.
