I too have a Toshiba HDD which went to read-only after upgrading to El Capitan. I followed the discussion on this thread, I went to Tuxera, paid my money and got my hard drive working again. Thanks to all the contributors.
My particular complaint is this:
We pay a premium for Apple products. It is not good enough for Apple to say 'not our problem' when they must have known that hundreds of thousand of their customers would be affected by an upgrade.
Apple should work with the major device manufacturers to make sure that THEIR customers won't be inconvenienced when they install 'recommended' upgrades. They're Apple after all. It's not as if device manufacturers won't return their calls.
We pay a premium for Apple, as I said. Every time something like this occurs, it makes that premium just a little less worthwhile.
