Reminders app shows Chrome against reminder containing web link

I also get the tripadvisor icon for every reminder and it just opens tripadvisor, not the correct url.

added this reminder via safari but it appears as chrome, which is not my default browser. Clicking on the link opens Safari, the icon brings it up in Chrome.

Didn't fix it for me either.

Still getting Tripadvisor icon and the app launches if I tap on it.

It seems that just having Chrome installed is enough to make reminders default to it. Removing Chrome fixes the issue for me, I have other browsers installed that don't have this effect.

Same here. Default Safari, but still shows Chrome. I think this is a case of picking your battles and just one of the things with Apple that just won't ever work. Google Keep is my preferred reminder software, anyway. I wish THAT was as integrated with Mac OS X as well as it's integrated with iOS.

I had the same problem. Rebuilding launch services seems to fix it.

I have CleanMyMac 3 for that and other functions. I'm sure Cocktail and Onyx will still do that too.

There's also going to be a terminal command version but I believe it has change in El Capitan so, as I didn't use that, I'm not going to link to it just in case I find the wrong one.

I was experiencing the same behaviour with Reminders on El Capitan, when sending it links from the Safari share button. Safari is set as my default browser. Looks like a bug and not a config set by the user.

I resolved it by deleting Chrome, restarting Reminders, confirming Share works correctly now, and then reinstalling Chrome. All good now.

Perhaps others with a different app to Chrome having the same issue could delete, share, and re-isntall the app in question?

Not for me. Broken in the same way everyone else has stated on my Macs and iOS devices. On iOS links have the TripAdvisor icon and open in it. On Mac it's Google Chrome Canary.

This worked on my iPhone (I don't really use TripAdvisor) and I tried it on my Mac but now it wants to use Safari Technology Preview. I guess I'll delete that too.

Good workaround, thanks! I hope Apple fixes this because not everyone is willing to delete their apps.

Almost a year later and this still isn't fixed. Rebuilding LaunchServices as described below, followed by a reboot will change the icons back temporarily, but new reminders created in Safari will still open in Chrome even if it's not the default browser.
