Canon Maxify MB5360 El Capitain Scanner not working

I recently purchased the MAXIFY MB5360 all in one printer which has been working perfectly with MAC OSX Yosemite.

Since upgrading to OSX El Capitan the scanner function no longer works.

I get the following error message when trying to use the scanner:

An error occurred while communicating with the scanner (-9923)

I have uninstalled the printer and deleted the drivers from the /Library/Canon

I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Canon website that state they support OSX 10.11

I have tried contacting Canon but have not received a response.

Does anybody know how to get the MAXIFY printer scanner working in El Capitan?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1), null

Not sure where you see drivers for v10.11 El Capitan here > http://supportdrivers.info/canon-maxify-mb5360-drivers/

I see this:

Canon MAXIFY MB5360 drivers for MAC OS X

OS X Yosemite v10.10 Mavericksv10.9 etc.

See if a reset works.

Reset the print system.

Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners then select the Print tab.

Then right or control click your printer on the left then click Reset Print System

Then restart your Mac and your printer to test.

Thanks for your response.

Resetting the printer did not solve the issue.

The drivers for 10.11 have been released for my region (Oceanian) - I got them from canon.co.nz here:

Outline (Standard) This is a printer driver for your selected model. For an enhanced user experience we also recommend installing My Image Garden software. Update History [Ver.11.7.1.0] - OS X El Capitan (v10.11) has been added as a supported OS. -

Yes, I installed all drivers correctly following the corresponding instructions.

There are 6 drivers to install in total:

MB5300 series CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 11.7.1.0 (OS X)

Quick Toolbox Ver. 1.1.0 (OS X)

Speed Dial Utility Ver. 1.6.0 (OS X)

IJ Scan Utility Ver. 2.1.6 (OS X)

ICA Driver Ver. 4.0.0 (OS X)

Canon IJ Network Tool Ver. 4.6.0 (OS X)

After installing the drivers the printer can Print but it does not recognise the multifunction features such as Scan or Fax.

I emailed Canon support but I am still waiting for their response.

Like I said, everything worked perfectly in Yosemite so it must be a problem with their drivers and El Capitan.

I received the following response from Canon which has resolved the problem:

Thank you for contacting Canon New Zealand.

It is possible that you have damaged or incomplete driver and software, and we will need to perform a total clean reinstallation to resolve the issue. This can be done by removing all Canon drivers as well as printer library files and the configured printer itself. After that, you must download and install the driver and software. The steps required to do this are as follows:

1. Disconnect the USB Cable from the Mac and turned off the printer.

2. Delete the printer:

- Click Apple (icon) at the top left corner of your Macintosh screen.

- Click System Preferences.

- Double click on Print & Fax or Printers and Scanners.

- Click Canon printer.

- Click ➖ to delete the printer.

3. Uninstall the printer driver and software from your Hard Drive:

- Click Go across the top of your Macintosh screen.

- Click Computer.

- Click on your Hard Drive.

- Click Library.

- Click Printers.

- Click Canon and make sure to move all the Canon files into Trash.

4. Uninstall from the Download folders:

- Click Go across the top of your Macintosh screen.

- Click Applications.

- Click Downloads.

- Click Canon and move all the Canon files into Trash.

5. Open the Trash icon and select “Empty Trash”.

6. Repair Disk Permissions:

- Click Go across the top of your Macintosh screen.

- Click Utilities.

- Double click on Disk Utilities.

- Click on your Hard Drive.

- Click on Repair Disk Permission.

7. Restart the Macintosh system, and then turn on the printer.

8. Proceed with the reinstallation process. Please click the links below.
