How do i transfer pictures from my photo library to my windows of or a flash drive?

Why can't I move pictures from my iPods photo library to my laptop or onto a flash drive. Apple should really make that a priority in the next update because it should have already been done. I don't want to have to use a third party program to get one simple thing done like moving picture. Apple should also aloow the iPod to delete certain pictures from the photo library and add a percentage indicator for the iPod touch
