tab delimited .txt file

Autodesk Revit uses tab delimited .txt files to store keynote information. This .txt file needs to be edited frequently. The only way to edit this file is with a spreadsheet program. I used to use Excel and saved to a tab delimited .txt file before I switched to Mac. I can open the .txt file with Numbers but I don't see the option to save or export it as tab delimited .txt. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I tried editing and saving the .txt file as plain text with Pages, but upon linking it with Revit I get the error that "Revit doesn't under stand the line ..." and then it lists all lines in the file.

I have Office 2016 for the cost of about a couple lattes a month and it is really nice on the Mac (and iOS and Windows at the same time). No Java worries. Frequent security and other updates. Solid as a rock. A champ at problems like this. The office clones have been progressing but it's going to be tough sledding to keep up. A few years ago the file export/import was pretty good, but just not the same in my opinion.

Numbers is lightweight and nice for other, more self-contained projects.

Libre Office uses Java for the following

Some Wizards won't work (Letter, Fax, Agenda and Web Page), as well as some of the extensions included in the installer (Report Builder, Script provider for BeanShell, Script provider for Javascript, Solver for Nonlinear Programming and Wiki Publisher).

There are some rarely used features that may not work: for a full list look here. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Java
