Disable swipe to delete/archive in El Capitan Mail?

I've just installed El Capitan and the new "feature" of swiping to delete/archive in Mail really annoys me. It doesn't go very well with the Apple mouse. I'd like to disable it. How can I do that? I guess there's some kind of Terminal command to do it.

And please don't answer that the feature is actually good and that I just don't understand it. That was not my question. 🙂

I will add my voice to the growing tide - the swipe feature in El Capitan Mail is very annoying and not having an 'off' switch for it is not just user-unfriendly it's user-screw-you. PLEASE!!!!! For the love of God, Jesus and all that's HOLY - LET US TURN THIS OFF! Oh - and STOP with the 'use the classic layout' - I prefer the NEW layout thank you very much. That's not a solution, that's a dodge and ANYTHING BUT 'user service'. Apple, you used to be better than this. Try to be 'insanely great' again. I miss that.

I've use Better Touch Tool and, before that, MagicPrefs for years and with no issues. If a third party extension causes problems with your OS surely there is a simple solution - uninstall it. The great advantage of modern operating systems is their flexibility, extendibility and customisability. In this case the only reason people wish to change the native behaviour of the OS is that it is flawed and causes problems, so things are already 'going wrong'.
