Airdrop not working on El Capitan

Does anyone know how to get airdrop working on OS X El Capitan, I used to have the issue intermittently on Yosemite but since upgrading I haven't been able to transfer files via Airdrop to my iPhone 5 or 6S.

When I select Airdrop in a Finder window my phone just doesn't appear!!!

Can anyone help?

I have had a problem with my iMac 21.5 inch (late 2013). In a nutshell, Airdrop has never worked.

Having spent hours online to Apple support with no success, I resigned myself to never using Airdrop.

However.....I have just installed 10.11.1 and it now works. I can use it between both my IOS devices and my iMac and vice versa.

Better late than never!

I've been chatting with the Senior Advisors for hours yesterday and today. We've been trying everything to solve this problem of mine. My Airdrop of my MBA cannot be searched by other iOS devices. However, other iOS devices are doing the jobs just fine. Therefore, we know something is wrong with the MBA 2013.

We've tried resetting NVRAM, SMC, wireless network, reinstall the OS X, change a different router, setting up a test account, and other things too.

However, none of above worked for me.

At the end, he asked me what kind of third party apps I have, and i gave him a list of the app i have. (I was really hopeless at that time and thought that it was not the problem for sure, however, we have already tried everything, why not one more)

Out of so many apps, he asked me to delete "Dr Cleaner, Memory Clean, and the unarchiver", I did not want to troubleshoot anymore, so i just deleted those and restarted the MBA.

You know what!? IT WORKS! WOW!!🙂😁

Hope this helps other people like me having trouble with the AirDrop.

Good Luck!

Well, I will share..

I have the same problem, but I found some solution..

First I try to FaceTime to my device (iphone5s) and end shortly.

Then back to see Air drop from Finder, My device (iphone5s) is founded, so I can use Air Drop and transfer my photos.

I don't know this work for others devices....lets try.....

Thank you.
