We have seen a few minor display issues since the 10.2.2/El Capitan update but yours is "off the scale".
Hold the Option-Command keys as you re-start FCP X, you can reset the Preferences.

Reinstall the application. What OS is this? You might need to reinstall the OS. It looks like some fonts have either become corrupted or been deleted.
thx ... reinstallation of FCP did it. the fonts are back 🙂
