When I use the shift-command-4 keys to take a screenshot, I hear the camera click, but the screenshot does not show on my desktop. Do they go somewhere else and if so, how do I find them?

Rats. I just tried this (restart) and it did not help. And I don't have dropbox set up to receive screen shots either. Still looking....
Reset the NVRAM. Shutdown computer, hit power button and immediately hold down command+option+R+P, hold buttons down until you hear the start up chime twice then let go. You should hear a third start up chime confirming setting have been reset to default.

I was hitting the Control key which explains why my screenshots were not saving to the Desktop!
