imessage not working reliably after ios 9.0.2 update.

After the iOS 9.0.2 update, I am not reliably receiving or sending text messages. This occurs on group and single person text messages. It occurs with others that have iphones and other phones. It seems to be worst on one group text which contains a mix of iphones and non-iphones. Some messages that I send are not received. Some messages that are sent to me are not received.

There are no blocks set for Messaging. I have reset my network with the help of Apple's help line. I have restarted my phone. I have good WiFi and Cellular connections. I am on AT&T's network.

The problem persists.

Any solutions?

Thanks.

Im also having issues!

Is anyone else having iMessage issues with iOS 9.0.2? I updated a few days ago. I have an iPhone 6 which is one year old.

When I am in an iMessage conversation (with someone ive had multiple iMessage conversations with before) my messages will send as an iMessage, but I don't see the "Delivered" notation. The person I am messaging, sees the message and confirmed this with me. Then on my side, the message gets re-sent as a Text Message.

I still see the icon to indicate the person I am messaging is typing a response, and they see all of my messages come through on their side like a normal iMessage.

If anyone out there has this same issue or a potential solution for me please let me know. I have tried restarting the phone as well as toggling the iMessage off and back on again. The problem still persists.

Thank you Community!

I've got the same problem in Belgium since i update to 9.0 and as i heard about the 9.0.2 i Was hoping to not have this problem anymor...

Nothing changed, i came to the Apple Store "I don't understand what's happening "

It's been nearly 2 weeks i went to the new iOS ans it's getting me out of my nerves

Hurry up Apple, find a solution!

I am also having the same problem on Verizon network.. very frustrating especially because my company uses iPhones specifically so we can send long detailed messages from the field without having to wait for emails or texts but it defeats the purpose when the iMessage doesn't come through. extremely disappointing and disruptive

By toggling the SMS switch OFF within the Message settings, I was able to force 9.0.2 to send iMessage to a user that I was only able to send SMS to earlier.

I had to completely delete the conversation from another iPhone user that I was only able to send SMS to earlier and begin a new conversation with the SMS switch toggled to OFF in order for iMessage to work with that user as well.

I have not tried to toggle the Switch ON nor have I tried this from LTE using Verizon. It was solely using WiFi. I will go and test it now. Hope that this helps some of you.

Having the same issue. Beyond annoying. ill be texting someone with an iPhone, though my texts send in as text messages instead of iMessage. I have full bars of wifi, though very spotty service where I live. I have the wifi assist turned off. This has never happened, besides the last couple days. It'll say the message was not delivered though the person I'm texting will still reply with what I said. It's so confusing. I'm ready for an update because this is so frustrating.

There was an earlier post that said after turning Wi-Fi Assist OFF it worked, which is a new feature in iOS 9 found under Settings/General/Cellular and on the very bottom is a swift for "Wi-Fi Assist"

I just applied this setting and tested it while disconnected from WiFi.. all my messages are going through as iMessages now. I only see half of them say "Delivered" though, and they seem to be consistent w/ who I'm sending it to. I don't get "Delivered" when I sent to someone w/ Read Receipts on, but I get "Delivered" when I send to someone w/o Read Receipts. I've only had two people to test it with and one is still using iOS 8 and the other has an earlier iOS 9 version.

I have Wi-Fi Assist off and it is still not working.

The only thing ive found after testing this morning, is that the iMessage is working how it should only to those who also are on iOS 9.0.2. For those on earlier versions, im getting the re-sending as a Text Message.

For those ive tested with on 9.0.2, I get read receipts (if enabled) and the delivered notation.

Please fix Apple!!

I have figured out where the issue comes from!!!--- Granted its still one that Apple will need to fix, but this is ONLY a problem for people who have updated their iOS to 9,0.2 trying to iMessage with people who haven't. I hope this helps make at least SOME people feel better....but it's still super annoying that we have to wait for a new update to hopefully fix this bug.

i am also having the same issues since last night. It seems to me that all the people who hasn't updated to the new ios system, when I imessage them it would first appear as imessage but it would get deliver as text message afterwards. This is very frasutring because I have restarted, hard rest and Restore my phone and nothing works. Apple needs to fix this asap bwcausw the new iOS system didn't fix any of the bugs that its suppose to! It actually made it worst!

I've had the exact same experiences as Rahrah6263 ("My messages show as sending as an iMessage but once I send them, they either don't show as delivered or get sent as a text message. Some times, it will stay blue like an iMessage, won't show as delivered, but the person I am talking to will respond to the message that hasn't shown as sent on my phone."), except that I'm on AT&T not Verizon.

I *believe* I have determined that my iMessages only go through to others with iOS 9.0.2, but I haven't tested a large enough sample size to be able to confidently say that's the case. Either way, really frustrating.

True for me so far. It's not happening to everyone who has updated, but it does seem to only be happening btw updated and non updated iPhones. No discernible problem for me with androids. Now, do I tell my friends/boyfriend to update so I can actually communicate with them? Or do I tell them not to because they'll have the same problem? Ethical conundrum
