Avid / DigiDesign MBox 2 drivers do not work in El Capitan 10.11.0

The Avid Mbox 2 driver does not work in El Capitan and the device is not recognized by the Mac / Garage Band.

DO NOT UPGRADE FROM YOSEMITE to EL CAPITAN.

The device might light up, but it won't be recognized.

If you watch the Mac console app and plug in your M-Box 2, you'll see errors like this:

10/5/15 9:40:44.399 PM com.apple.kextd[53]: Untrusted kexts are not allowed

10/5/15 9:40:44.399 PM com.apple.kextd[53]: ERROR: invalid signature for com.digidesign.mbox2.driver, will not load

I've already tried the 10.3.3 and 10.3.9 driver for my MBOX 2. Neither one work...

Only option at this time is to go back to Yosemite or wait for a fix from either Avid or Apple.. Unfortunately I found out too late.

Now I'll be installing Yosemite on an external drive and hoping this gets fixed someday....

See Avid's warning here:

Based on the complaints I've in this forum, Apple broke MIDI interfaces for many different devices, not just the MBOX 2 so hopefully there will be a fix from Apple soon...

Thank you for your courage.

I was able to get up and running again by installing yosemite on an external disk and then re-downloading garage band.

I installed the 10.3.9 MBOX 2 driver but the device was not recognized.

I then had to manually delete the 10.3.9 drivers and install 10.3.3 MBOX 2 driver.

From there the MBOX lit up and is once again recognized by the system and is visible in the System Preference..

Thank you for your courage.

MBOX 2 lights up but does not connect in 10.11.1.

Console has the following error, I'm sure it's due to the new security restrictions in El Capitan. I could try running with it disabled but at this point I've got Yosemite installed on an external disk..
