Google Search not working from address bar in Safari

I surrender, finally. After weeks and weeks of Safari stalls and stops, and waiting for a fix for all of these bugs, I'm no longer going to use it. Shame on Apple for refusing to fix this. Safari in El Capitan simply does not work.

Did yo try the fix that worked for me and I posted last month?:

After trying everything else I disabled DNS prefetching. Suddenly everything started behaving normally again!

To change prefetching:

• Start a new Terminal session (in Finder click Applications > Utilities > Terminal).
• To disable this setting, type (or copy and paste) the following command:

defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false

To activate this tweak please close all instances of Safari, or wait until the next reboot.

Close the Terminal session by typing

exit

I later changed it back to the default (prefetching enabled) and it has continued work OK.

To reset this setting to the default value, type (or copy and paste) the following command:

defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean true

• Close all instances of Safari, or wait until the next reboot.
• Close the Terminal session by typing

  exit

  at the prompt.

I missed this one. I had tried most of what had been posted, but none of that worked, at least not permanently. I'll try this.

A few days ago I've changed my modem (an old Netgear DGN2200) with a newer Asus AC68U and the problem seems to be disappeared. I heaven't upgraded to OS X 10.11.4 already and I haven't made other changes to OS X. So I think that this issue is really related to an incompatibility between the WiFi router and the Mac.

I have the same double return key issue. After looking into it, I find that in fact by pressing enter once you will already initiate the search. However with a single enter it will not show the progress bar below the url, making it appear as if your browser is not searching. A double enter does the same but with progress bar.

I have the same issue with our without "Include search engine suggestions" as suggested above.

Issue is the same independent of using Google, Yahoo, Bing or DuckDuckGo.

Looks like a Safari bug to me, but would like to get the details behind this.

maybe you can try these steps:

1. Untick all of options

2. Then, tick "Include search engine suggestions" only

3. Quit and reopen Safari

If you're still getting the problem, you can set your Safari Homepage to https://www.google.com/#q and then try to open the Homepage

I install OS Sierra yesterday and having problem with typing:

Here are the description:

I want to type "Favorite Food" and then this pop-out, so I continue typing

And then I type "a", then it not continue but insert a letter "a" without deleting the tail.

So I press delete, then this happened:

I cannot search or surf any address.

Can anyone help me with this problem? Thank you.

Open system preferences > network > open the pad lock by entering user name & password > select DNS remove unwanted DNS settings by clicking on minus sign .

For google settings ,click on plus sign and type 8.8.8.8 in the first field , 8.8.4.4 in second field .click on ok.
