Sort by flags in Mail not working

Hello,

After upgrading to El Capitan, Mail.app does not sort by flags correctly in the message list - it is almost as if it is random the way it displays them. I use this both on a GTD basis (priority) and to check my spam (automagically sorted by SpamSieve). And it is not the plugins that are causing this since I also have tested this without any of them being active.

As you can see here, the sorting is all messed up (and just prior to upgrading to El Capitan all looked good):

The same thing is going on with my GTD priority list. Any ideas as to why this happens?

Cheers,

Massimo

The sorting of mail messages by Flag Color has been taken away in El Capitan. It needs to be reinstated. I and many others rely on this to organize our inboxes!

You can send feedback to Apple here:

Please use the feedback option to let Apple know. Otherwise they may just leave it out in subsequent updates, and we need it fixed!

I once had an issue with Unread counts being off. I called Apple and they walked me through somehow rebuilding the folders so everything was in synch. You could start with the Rebuild option under Mailbox. If that didn't work, call Apple Support because that's one thing they seem to be able to fix. Of course, if it's continuously happening, that's another matter.

Be that as it is, it's odd that you have a laptop where email is actually sorting. If there are more people out there who say it's working, I can go back to Apple and say "fix it", because then it's not a feature, it's truly a break-and-fix situation.

Anyone else out there on El Capitan where the mail does sort by Flag Color?

The thing is, that it also goes for the emails I myself are flagging manually. The problem is not only in regards to emails flagged by SpamSieve. And toggling the sort does unfortunately not help in my case. I've tried to rebuild and vacuum and also tried with all plugins turned off…

I don't think I made mention of it not being a problem when manually flagging a message as that is the only way I could test it.

I can't test with SpamSieve, so I can't try to determine if that has some effect on the issue. I wouldn't think it would.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with SpamSieve. Others are reporting this issue and Apple's position (at least to me in the context of my support call with them) is that it is a feature that is not in El Capitan. It was on that basis that they closed my Support call, because it was "working in production correctly". Whether they end up restoring it is another thing.
