permanently deleting photos to open up storage

my macbook pro is just about full capacity of storage and trying free up space. i have 80GB of photos. just back-up the photos and deleted them after back-up. but still hasn't open space in my storage. any help???

Did you empty the Trash?

If yo are using iPhoto then y ohave to go to iPhotos and empty the iPhotos trash.

If you are using Photos you have to permanently deleted photos. Photos>File>Show Recently Deleted items. Select all items and then click Delete
