Hi,
after upgrade to El Capitan Preview app crashes on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) when I try to open a large photo. It shows green screen first and later just crashes. I also noticed that images look good with the quick preview (when press Space), but they are not with retina quality when opened in Preview app. Is there any fix of that issue?

Yeah, I'm having a similar problem:
When I scroll through large PDFs, it freezes up and I get the spinning beach ball until I force quit.
It seems like Preview can only render so many pages until it dies.
This is very frustrating.
Any solutions?
When the crash occurs, does a crash report show up? If so, copy and paste it into a reply here, as it might contain clues as to what is going on. For now, how big is the picture (both in pixels as well as MB on disk), and what is its format (PNG, JPG, TIFF, etc)?

Thanks for the reply. I'm having this issue with PDFs (not JPGs,etc) and the last one was 49 MBs. For some reason, the Apple comment system is not allowing me to post the error log. I'll try again in a minute.
I am having the same issue with the green image when opening a photo in Preview, but there is no error message. The Preview app just closes.
I have the same trouble. For a tine piece of time the original picture is shown, but immediatelly the green canvas comes up.
Same problem with me since I updated to El Capitan. Click on photo and it opens in preview for a second and then goes to blank white screen...
Do a backup.
Quit Preview.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Remove the following. You may not find them all. Restart and test.

I have tried removing the listed files and folders. I found and deleted all accept the last one in the 'Saved Application State' folder. I restarted the Macbook but the problem still remains.
No change, sorry.
Unfortunately, Eric Root's solution did not work for me either. Same problem.
Same problem with me since I updated to El Capitan. Click on photo and it opens in preview for a second and then goes to blank grayish screen. It doesn't happen with all photos, just some. Weird.
If I open a JPG in Preview, and rename it, and then Adjust Size, it crashes, every single time. I can then reopen it and Adjust Size and it works.
If I don't rename it first, it doesn't crash.

Preview is constantly crashing also for me after I updated to El Capitan.
I have a 3-year old MacBook Air 13-inch.
The crashes usually happen either when opening or just after opening a pdf file. I think I've had ~5 crashes today, after "Force quit" and restarting, it works fine again for a while.
Pasting in the beginning of the error report/stack trace in case that helps..

Same problem, was having this issue with Skim as well which I was using as a PDF reader. Now started using Preview as a result and the same thing. Guessing they use the same thing render PDF's with.
I wish it would hard crash and report to Apple automatically but it doesn't, it just locks with the spinning wheel, I have to do a hard kill and restart. This is very frustrating indeed.
Same problem. MBPr late 2013, clean installation of os 10.11, then upgraded to os 10.11.1.
I use Preview.app to read PDF file a lot and haven't encountered such problem when using os 10.11.
After upgraded to os 10.11.1, the Preview.app will show spinning beach ball when I try to close a edited PDF file, no matter how big the file is and how many files have been opened.
