Something changed recently and the text-entry field now has gray background, so I cannot see what I type.
This is the case when I reply to an existing thread; if I start to edit a new message I get a normal text entry field.

I turned the phone off & on again... and the grayness went away.

I have this same problem but I've turned it on and off multiple times and it is still showing up. Anyone else having this issue?

Go into settings >> messages, and turn off 'raise to listen'.
Messages: text-entry field has gray background, can't see what I type!
