Unable to Remove Songs from iPhone 6 (iOS9)

iPhone 6

iOS 9

Apple Music Subscriber

I wanted to remove all songs on my iPhone and start with a fresh list of Playlist. After removing all the song (via iTunes and unchecking "Sync Music"), I preformed a fresh sync - so all songs are out.

I check the Music App and there are still some songs in the phone. When I try to remove then - some have the option

- Delete Purchase

- Remove from My Music

Q: What is that? Shouldn't all songs have gone when I did the uncheck and Sync?

Q: How do I remove all songs form my iPhone without doing a wipe/restore of the Phone?

Someone please help.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.0.2

Seems to me the songs remaining on your phone may have been downloaded directly from the Apple Store instead of "synced" from iTunes.

Make sure all the music is on your computer first -- "Check for Available Downloads" and eyeball the songs left on your phone. Once sure they're all on your computer it should be safe to remove them from your phone. (left swipe to "Delete" a song -- this doesn't seem to work for Albums/Artists/Genres any longer).

Then you should be able to create your playlists and restart the sync.
