Unable to login with Apple ID El capitan

Hi to all, this is my first post on the forum. I updated my old Mac book pro 2009 to El Capitan but now I'm not able anymore to login with my username and password in the apple store. I tried to remove the account on icloud and I succeeded to login back in but:

  • apple store
  • itunes
  • facetime


stopped working. I inserted the username and password but the wheel keep turning without error or any useful hint on the console:

The following procedure worked for me. Please note that it will delete your Apple ID account information for the current user and you will need to log in again.

  • if the App Store is opened and stuck in the login process, force close it
  • open the Terminal
  • issue the following commands:
sudo pkill -9 -f Account

sudo rm $HOME/Library/Accounts/*

open the App Store and log in

I have the same problem and having spent quite some tome reseraching the problem I think it is because the installation of El Capitan has somehow corrupted the serial no. on my Mac - when I check on About this Mac it says serial no. unavailable. wheras on my MacBoork Pro which I also upgraded I dont havr the Apple ID login problem and the serail no. is shown


If you go to ROGERSM.NET there is a solutipon, I have yet to try it but others on the Apple Support Commuinity seem to have done it, and solved the problem there is risk so you neeb to very carefully enter the ersial no of your Mac

Good morning folks: Still no joy on doing a complete login with El Capitan installed. Did install yesterday. No problem with Serial Number and no stray certificates. Login with Apple ID fails with a "This action could not complete. Please try again." As you can see, I am logged in to this Forum so my password etc is intact.


Some folks have suggested to completely logout of iCloud and go back in. However, no logins allowed on App Store, FaceTime etc. which are not linked to iCloud.


Interestingly, AppStore posted driver updates to download on to this MacBook Pro which worked and no password was requested.
