Login Window Looks Different

Hi all,

I currently have been trying to find out an answer to this question all night with no luck. I am hoping I'll be able to find it here.

A few weeks back, I reset my Keychain (dumb move, I know!) and noticed that the behavior of what happens after I wake up my MacBook from sleeping is a bit different. Before, it would bring me to the login window that shows the users (I was the only one listed. I disabled the guest acct.), I would enter my password and be brought right back to what I was doing before I closed the lid.

Now when I wake my laptop up, it gives me just a generic login window like the one below:

How do I go back to this sort of login after waking up my MacBook Pro?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.

There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.11 ("El Capitan"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
