Export the slideshow out of Photos as a QT movie file via the Export button in the upper right hand corner of the toolbar. Select 480p as the format.

Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.

Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:

Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

Note: Most video DVD authoring apps allow saving the project to disk image.

To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.

Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Thank you Old Toad.

My problem is that wifey has the new 2012, 21" imac full blown, and I am running a 2006 G5 imac, slow as a turtle-lol. Now I know the Tiger Op.sys. with no problems, but now I have to learn the Yosemite 10.10.3. I could not find the iDVD program on the 2012 iMac, even used spotlight. I have the DVD player though. Wifey did this slideshow of her Hadrian's Wall trip and so far somehow the iPhoto library inserted itself into the slide show, all 7000 photos. Now she has done the slideshow in triplet in case one screws up. Needless to say I took the brunt of this disaster.

Now we are ready to burn a DVD and using LarryHN 's method, I ended up with an iTunes disk playable with Quick Time. I will try the export as QT movie file and see what happens. Will I need to download an iDVD application from the store, or could you recommend one? What I did do was take the burned disk to my 2006 Tiger G5 as I have iDVD and Toast version 6 on it. I could play the disk but could not burn a DVD.

Thanks for replying.

If you just burn the exported Quicktime movie file to a disc using the Finder you won't get a disc that is playable on a video DVD player.

What you can do is copy the exported movie from the disk you burned to the Movies folder on the G5. Next, launch iDVD on the G5 and drag the movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones. Finally, save the project as a disk image, test with DVD Player and burn to disk with Disk Utility.
