It appears that the upper left side of my iphone screen has come unattached to the phone. Everything works fine.

This would point towards the iphone being slightly bent, as i have the same issue

Larry -- that could be from the battery swelling. a known issue. you will need the battery replaced. mine did this. But be careful to check your camera and flashlight after the battery is replaced as those also have problems during eth battery swap.
