Problems after update to El Capitan

Hello.

Mac OS X Yosemite was a great and stable operation system, but after update to El Capitan on my MacBook Pro major problems detecting every hour and it's unreal to work anymore.

1. When MacBook going to sleep seems that it eject all external drivers. I have external HDD connected via USB and when OS wake up from sleep i always have few message that my device was eject uncorrectly. It's killing my HDD...

2. Sometimes when i wait my MacBook wake up from sleeping it just making auto reboot after unknown crash. I reported 100x times about it via modal window.

3. Finder freezing and Force Quit is not helping. Relaunch Finder is not help too. After few minutes all other apps freezing too.

4. My multifunction printer Samsung SCX-4200 and multifunction photo printer EPSON Stylus Photo PX660 working very well in Yosemite. Both devices printing and scanning documents.

But on El Capitan SCX-4200 detecting only as printer without scan functions. PX660 after install drivers and reboot working well with scan, but after sleep it is not scanning anymore. So i need again delete device, making reboot and scan document if i need.

Please help me to fix each of this issues.

Thanks.

I think you mean drives, not drivers. And yes, this is a persistent trouble with Energy Saver and third party peripherals ever since USB was introduced. Alas different devices have had different firmware requirements to speak the Energy Saver code, and need to keep up to date with the operating system if they are firmware specific. Some use a better firmware than others that doesn't need updating. Energy Saver does have an uncheck box for put hard drives to sleep. That helps for some hard drives but not all. My best advice, if you must use energy Saver, to manually dismount all external drives before letting your machine go to sleep. Or use Screen Saver instead of Energy Saver.

2. Sometimes when i wait my MacBook wake up from sleeping it just making auto reboot after unknown crash. I reported 100x times about it via modal window.

This may be related to #1. See if following my advice for #1 fixes number 2.

Does this happen with no third party peripherals or drivers in use?

Is your data backed up?

Have you run Etrecheck to determine if there is any out of date software or drivers that might need updating?

Yeah thanks. I've disable Energy Saver and will use it only when be on way. Just in Yosemite energy saver works fine and this wasn't happen ever.

I'll watch when it happens and will report later. At the moment i can't link it with any other case. Each different.

Unsaved – no. There helps only hard reboot with power button.

First time hear about this app. I will try check it and will report later. Thanks!

Thus it may be premature for those with anything right now but Brother printers to upgrade to El Capitan.

Thanks, i'll try it. But i'm not sure will printer works as Photo printer well then.

I saw your post because I am looking for a solution to my SCX-4200 printer as well.

After some research and testing with my El Caption OSX, I managed to make the SCX-4200 working.

El Caption OSX no longer support SCX-4200 natively, so need to use Samsung software, and the closest one I can find is SCX-4600 and when checking the software, I noticed is it using the universal TWIN SCAN engine, so I am comfortable it will work.

I install the Samsung SCX-4600 scan software without the ICA driver, printer work as normally via OSX, and I need to start the Samsung scan/fax utility to perform scanning. Not the same way I just the scanner before, but it works.

Hope this help.
