El Capitan - Bluetooth repeatedly disconnects on Mac Mini

after installing El Capitan ( 10.11), the bluetooth keeps disconnecting, then reconnecting.

Sometimes every 30 seconds. Tried to trace any conflicts, but no luck.

Does not matter what bluetooth is connected, it all goes down.

Had to shut down bluetooth, and buy a wireless mouse to replace my Magic Mouse.

is this a known bug?

Well, it's buggy behavior. Occurs on latest Sierra deploy. SMC resets, multiple mice manufacturers, multiple machines experiencing the issue. Hopefully it's a correctable software issue and not a hardware flaw... Looks like this for me, btw, with Bluetooth rapidly toggling back and forth between "Connected" and "Not Connected":

Are you still having the issue? This is happening to me after a while, for example:

1. Computer startup.

2. Connect Bluetooth speaker sharkbox

3. No interference noticed.

4. Speaker disconnected - user action.

5. Working with iMac for a couple of hours.

6. User set Computer in Sleep mode.

7. User activate the Computer.

8. Connect speaker

9. Interference noticed.

10. Logs only show:

I Upgraded to El Capitan a few weeks ago and dont believe that it's an upgrade issue.

In fact everything was just fine when I left for work in the morning and the Bluetooth disconnect issues happened during the day while the computer was logged out but on all day. Which leads me to believe it's something Apple pushed down or came from iCloud?

The symptoms of this are just like the ones I had with Mavericks and Yosemite and Bluetooth speakers. in that scenario of issue the sound in the bluetooth speakerss was crackling and piping. And after doing numerous reinstalls fresh installs the issue never red itself until one day after doing a fresh install and skipping iCloud setup. At that time everything worked perfectly until I signed back into iCloud. And it was then I discovered Apple was backing other **** off the Mac and each time I signed in it pushed those files or preferences to the computer. Even if I deleted the files and let the OS recreate them, they always match the copy of the file apple icloud had a copy.

the solution I used to solve the speaker crackle noise was to sign out of iCloud on ever single device. Yes very painful but just signing out of the one computer having the issue didn't work. Once I was logged out everywhere I then deleted the bluetooth and sound preferences. Restarted the Mac and let it create fresh files. Things worked perfectly. Then signed back into iCloud one device at a time. Never had that issue again.

i will attempt this tonight or the morning and update my results.

This happens to me as well, on a Late 2012 27" iMac. It definitely started happening after I upgraded to El Capitan. I use the computer for work every and it started only after the upgrade. Some days it will be fine, and other times, for days at a time, my mouse and keyboard disconnect every 30 seconds (not necessarily at the same time). My computer has become almost unusable.

I've been having the same issue, with my magic mouse and trackpad disconnecting randomly. I started watching the bluetooth connections on my iMac and it seemed like my mouse would mostly disconnect after my wife's iPhone connected to bluetooth. I couldn't figure why her phone was connecting to bluetooth anyway, but I started searching around and I think it relates to Handoff (on the iPhone: Settings/General/Handoff & Suggested Apps). I turned Handoff off on her iPhone and that seems like that has fixed the problem. Her iPhone doesn't seem to be hooking up to my iMac bluetooth anymore, and for the moment my magic mouse and trackpad are working well. The problem is intermittent, of course, so it might return. But I thought I'd pass on my findings in case it helps anyone.

I am also having this problem. I have a Magic Mouse and the mini bluetooth keyboard (both the penultimate models; ie non-lightning-port). After a reboot they will all work as advertised for a couple hours but then begin disconnecting on an irregular but frequent-enough-to-be-maddening schedule. Both devices usually disconnect within a second or two of each other. I madly click the mouse or Cmd-Tab the keyboard for a few seconds (say 10) and they reconnect. Disconnection occasionally happens as quickly as 60 seconds later. It is infuriating. And its onset coincided with the ElCap upgrade. I vaguely remember occasional disconnections under Yosemite, but it was nothing like this.

* Mid 2012 15" MacBook Pro

* I have no USB external drives attached.

* Have done the SMC and NVRAM resets without joy

* There are no other bluetooth items in the apartment (except iphone, bluetooth explicitly turned off)

Nothing else to add just wanted to post this in the (vague) hope that heavy threads on this site might attract attention.

I believe this could be related to the bluetooth communication protocol implementation in the operating system, since several users have reported that before the update, yosemite os version worked.

I made another test:

1. headset sony sbh20 connected.

2. I hear some interruptions and I perceive that mouse pointer movement is frozen by a little instance.

3. I walked out some 20 meters and the interruptions were heard more.

4. I connected my headset to my phone and it works flawlessly

Mac OS version 10.11.1

Cheers.
