iMac 27 late 2009 bootcamp El Capitan

Hello everybody,

i didnt found any solutions to my specific problem. Just similar problems with other mac /osx/ windows version

i have a Imac 27 (late 2009) with OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) installed. My Bootcamp Version is 6.0.0. My intern DVD reader is damaged, so i have an extern DVD burner/reader from Samsung (Portable DVD writer SE-208) installed.

I downloaded the Windows 7 Pro x64 iSO. But with my iMac i need a DVD for Bootcamp. So i burned the ISO on a DVD ( I mounted the image then ctrl + click on the image and clicked on burn "....." image). now i started Bootcamp and loaded the drivers. Then it comes to the partition part in bootcamp and it send me the message that says it has to edit the boot dvd but will not delete anything. I clicked ok and it started to create the partition. Now my mac restarted and a black screen opened with "no bootable device - insert ..........". Now i restarted my mac with OS X again and deleted the partition and did everything again. But still not work.

I have no clue whats the problem. Maybe because i have no original Windows installation disc (i have bought a key without disc) ?

I hope somebody can help me

greetings

Jan

Since your internal Optical drive is damaged, BC Assistant will not let you install Windows because the NVRAM is set to boot from the internal disk.

You can try either of the following methods.

Bootcamp without Optical disc drive

If you have a second Mac, you can also consider cloning solutions like Winclone, CloneZilla or CampTune.

i can choose the dvd in the boot menu and the optical drive starts to make sound but nothing happens. i can't move the mouse anymore and i have the reboot again. there is a way to check if the external optical drive supports booting?

edit: maybe the problem is that my mac doesn't support boot from usb ( optical drive is connected with usb). Thats the reason why the Boot camp assistant doesn't work with iso (create a boot usb). Only with a disc......

maybe somebody know an solution anyway.

i rebooted after i did these two thinks. now it shows me 2 discs in the boot menu one named "windows" the other one "EFI boot". before it just showed me "EFi boot". when i clicked on "windows" it restarted and the black screen again with "no bootable device- ...". When i clicked on "EFI boot" it stuck again and i just can reboot.

are u sure the problem is the external drive? because i read some reviews about it and they say the booted windows with it (on a windows pc). i think the problem is my mac doesnt support usb boot

but anyway THANK YOU very much for the help
