External Microphone Not Detected..!?!

Hey Guys!

So I recently updated to OS X El Capitan and my external microphone doesn't seem to be detected. I tried a couple of them and could not get them to work.

They worked perfectly fine on Yosemite but after the update they don't, although they never seemed to work on Windows 10 through Bootcamp 6...

Any Ideas why? Any Fixes..?

I just realised that if I connect the only the microphone...The Sound tab in system preferences detects it as a Headphone and and my Audio doesn't work either because the OS is trying to play the Audio through my Mic..!?!

Hey did you fix your issue ? Would you mind to share how you fixed it ? I have the same issue and it's a big headache. Thanks

If you're still having a problem, try going to your sound settings and select "Use Audio Output For". Change it to "input" rather than "output". This fixed it for me.
