Good day s2975,

If you are having an issue with being unable to use Bluetooth with your iPhone, this article may help isolate the problem - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference.

If you find that you are unable to turn Bluetooth on for your iPhone, use the steps in this article - If Wi-Fi is grayed out or dim on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

apple obviously switched to a very new protocol that most devices do not use yet. so the new behaviour is not a bug, it's a feature.

i am not an expert on this. but handsfree profile seems to have changed from HFP 1.5 to 1.6.

1.5 - as of september 2015:

https://www.apple.com/business/docs/iOS_Security_Guide.pdf (page 29)

1.6 - list of recent protocols:

iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles - Apple Support

so, if our devices cannot speak 1.6, this might be the problem.

if we want to get our devices back to working with apple, they need a firmware update to enable HFP 1.6. if we cannot get one, we are lost.

The issue is resolved for tethering after MAC is upgraded to EL Captain. This observation kind of confirms the Bluetooth compatibility issue.

It may be an oversight by apple to not allow BT connection from Yosemite.

I am hoping for resolution of car connectivity soon. Its unsafe to pick up calls without hands free.

I am having the same issue. Since the latest update to 9.2 my iPhone 6s will connect via bluetooth to my 2016 Kia Sorento, but the music will not play. The song shows up on the screen, but no sound comes out of the speaker. I cleared my car device off of my phone and I re connected to my car, and it started working perfectly, but then it stopped working again. I have to keep deleting the device off my car and phone and re connecting.

I having the same identical problem with skipping tracks in Tidal, or using my Pioneer radio in the car that I have been for years.

Apple's quality control for patches is beyond abysmal lately. It's asinine that the quality of their support is this bad.

Apple, please give us an ETA for a fix, and not "restore your phone". This needs to be patched asap.

I talked to Apple Support on the phone Friday night and the man told me to restore my phone and I asked him if that didn't work what is the next option and he told me "Well luckily you still have Apple Care." I told him I have read on their forums that a lot of people are having the same issue and my brand new phone is not the problem, and he told me he will put that in his notes and the people in charge of software read his notes and if a lot of people are having the same issue, hopefully they can fix it. Not holding my breath for that.

Spent hours on the phone with Apple Care after paying $1200 for a new phone which will not connect with my car Blue Tooth. My prior phone had iOS 9.1 and connected to my car's bluetooth easily. This phone has iOS 9.2. I know there were problems with iOS 8 having this issue. After several attempts at troubleshooting, the tech on the phone suggested I upgrade my firmware on my car. When I told him others are having this issue and the problem is with the updated iOS, he couldn't get off the phone fast enough. He tried to set me up with an in-store appointment, but the people in the store won't come out to my car. He was extremely curt and would not entertain the possibility that it is the updated iOS with the issue. If he would simply report this so that it can be fixed, that would have been something. But he refused to acknowledge this as a possibility. If the programmers at Apple are not made aware of this issue, how can it be fixed? I really need the bluetooth to work with my car. The bluetooth on the phone works with my television, just not my car anymore.

It wasn't giving me the passcode to enter on my car, but my car was seeing it, and the phone showed MB. After resetting network settings, per the tech, my phone no longer saw my car, but my car saw my phone. (I deleted all other phones.) After resetting everything, per the the tech, my car no longer sees the phone. So yeah, after paying for the more expensive AppleCare (it costs more for the iPhone 6splus) it is now worse.

Is there any way Apple will take responsibility and provide an upgrade to resolve this issue?

Thank you in advance, if you provide assistance to resolve this issue or provide another update to resolve this issue of at least let your developers/programmers know about this issue so they can work on another update that will handle this issue (and don't delete this message, because I have noticed that is what has been happening to anyone posting honest issues with Apple not assisting.)

I had to downgrade my software and restore 9.1 back onto my phone for my bluetooth to work properly. I emailed the person I had been working with through Apple Support and told him that was the only thing that worked (he suggested restoring my phone would work, it didn't) and he said he would "submit feedback" so they are aware, but if they aren't aware there is a problem by now, we have bigger issues.

Hi Noeanne,

I specifically asked for assistance to downgrade my phone back to 9.1 (they made me upgrade it at the store when I purchased it) and was told by "Jason" the tech support guy that downgrades were not possible. Yes, that is what my AppleCare money is going towards. I realize you do not work for Apple, but if you could explain to me how to downgrade my software (did you lose your information, apps, etc. when you did this?) or tell me who to ask for at AppleCare (since apparently not everyone knows this is possible) I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.
