Preview+El Capitan = color management bug?

Hello,

after upgrading to El Capitan I noticed that the colors in Preview were not the same as in Photoshop (in Yosemite the colors were the same).

I tried many test with both sRGB and AdobeRGB pictures and I think I found a possible reason.

If in System Preferences > Monitor > Color I select a standard profile (AdobeRGB, sRGB or the default monitor profile) the colors are the same in Preview and Photoshop. If I select the calibrated ICC profile, made with XRite probe + BasICColor software, the colors and contrast in Preview appear wrong (saturated and posterized).

BasICColor produces v4 ICC color profiles.

Maybe ElCapitan/Preview is not compatible with v4 profiles as Yosemite?

Exactly the same problem here, did you ever find a solution?

I've tried producing v2 & v4 profiles.... It looks to be a gamma problem.

I have the same thing is macOS Sierra 😟 I made profiles with both displayCal (ArgyllCMS) and basICColor and sadly this issue is here!

Thanks @mixelpix, I did that; Hopeful they will start paying attention to the issue, it's been more than a year (and a new macOS version) and apple hasn't fixed it!

Also got this issue. Darker tones are lost completely within the preview app. I guess there won't be a fix very soon, since the issue is known like two years now? 😀
