El Capitan Mail Preview Pane issue

Thank you. After hours of effort to no avail I came upon your solution. Simple and effective. After opening the new viewer window, choose a message to show the preview. I then disabled classic view because I prefer my preview pane on the right.

I got it!!! Found the answer - in Classic, drag the dimple/dot VERY HIGH, almost to the top. That should do it. So simple. Thanks to All who have contributed to finding this answer.

I have the same kind of issue with the right preview panel with Sierra. There is no dot available to bring the window back. Has somebody the issue and can help me, please?

Yes, please see answer above... You must go to Mail Preferences, Viewing, and select Use Classic Layout. Then drag bottom pane button nearly to the top. This will open the pane. Then uncheck the Use Classic Layout to return... Hope this helps.

What worked for me (in default view) was to enter Full screen mode. Then I clicked on the right-most part of the window, and I could drag the message pane back into view.

When not in Full Screen, the window simply resized when I grabbed the right side of the window. Full screen mode is in the View menu.

Apple devs are dumb.

Thanks Blubery 52. That worked perfectly and I avoided a reinstall of El Capitan on my iMac but it only took me an afternoon to fix, thanks to your post.

my iCloud was messed up yesterday. now that it is fixed, email not displaying preview. Finally found it by dragging bottom bar. I want it back to the right of the subject.
