after updating my macbook pro mid 2010 to 10.11.1 the loading bar stops after updating at the end. I never had this kind of problem.

Forgive me - but this thread has drifted from the original issue! i.e. that MANY people have had problems - some severe - with the update from 10.11 to 10.11.1

I repeat what was asked earlier - if it worked OK on 10.11 - why problems with the latest .1 update (which was supposed to improve stability? It took me four attempts to get the update to work from Yosemite to El Capitan - then I gave up after the further problems with the latest .1 release.

So, to sarcastic 'experts' with bragging points - please, do NOT try an put other people down here. Do NOT use this forum to brag. TRY to connote the good work - and just give SOLUTIONS.

You have said earlier that the problems are usually caused by 3rd party software which is not (yet?) compatible with El Capitan. I recall on earlier OS update that had a list of software that did NOT work with that update. Also, was there not a facility from Apple at that time to move such software to a separate file?)

I have given up on this update - for now. Fortunately I had backups on Time Machine and Super Duper

IF - I try again when my frustration has calmed down - I look forward to POSITIVE suggestions - which can realistically be 'filed'

Enough childish behaviour! Give us clear solutions - to MANY (statistically significant) problems! With apologies to statisticians!

I said that, not Richard, and suggestions for diagnosing the problem have been posted by me earlier in the thread. Whether you use my suggestions is entirely your choice.

What a sanctimonious comment. YOU stated categorically that Apple don't make any OS adjustments for reasons of 3rd Party software compatibility.

But Apple seem to disagree with you. They state:

Improves compatibility with Microsoft Office 2016.

You clearly have made considerable contributions to helping people: however, it seems here you have become confused between wanting to be right and wanting to be helpful.

And file it where you like.

That is the latest version, but the Parallels user forum is full of people having problems with ElCap. Would you be prepared to remove it temporarily in order to try the install again?. I don't see anywhere on the Parallels site that even mentions compatibility so it might be worth trying, equally it could be a waste of time.

Download etrecheck and run a report, post the report here.

I just spend over 2 hours in the apple store with a wonderful tech that literally gave up and said I should wait until the next version of the update. This is ridiculous QC before they launched OS X El Capitan. It's had terrible problems with email right from the start and now the fix is causing computer operational problems.

Mr. Cook, someone isn't delivering the quality level to you that they used to deliver to Steve.

Please, lets get a new patch that works this time.

So you are very smart, I need help, sir lord of the apple-ring. I am one of this "few people" that had an issue with El Capitan upgrade. I am an apple fan, I have a macmini, two macbook, an ipad and an iphone. Until this week I have no problem with this, but after El Cap 10.11.1 I have my macmini crash in the apple screen. Do something useful for one time an tell me, how I fix this? If you are so smart...
