hello guys,

after updating my macbook pro mid 2010 to 10.11.1 the loading bar stops after updating at the end. I never had this kind of problem.

Live dangerously!

The upgrade worked on the latest macbookpro without problems.

However on my iMac mid 2010 which had a disaterous upgrade from Mavericks recently the upgrade went pear shaped - Lots of whirring, grey screens and eventually I gave up. Switched the machine off and started in Safe Mode - Only it did not start in Safe Mode - Had to log in three times and eventually the machine booted.

No help from Apple - they don't care as long as they can sell phones - The Apple shops in the UK are full of queues of demented customers seeking help. The Genius bars are fully booked.

SO Beware if you run into problems.

Hi Guys,

i have macbook pro 2012 and i switched back to Yosemite, el capitan never boot after first reboot (tried several times, some USB port errors) - i tried many many things to solve this issue, delete caches etc, TWO DAYS solving problems without payoff (im freelanced iOS developer and its painful to do this so long) but without success 😟

I still follow El Capitan Updates informations, but im afraid Apple doesnt care for computers more than 2 years old back now. Its harm, because El Capitan have few nice extensions then Yosemite and Im afraid Yosemite is my last OSX on my macbook. I feel some discomfort of this.

Apple OSX Team, please do something about this.

AFter HEAPS of problems with "El Crapitan" as it has started to be called (yes even in the stores) I have installed the 10.11.2 and it seems to be working again. The process has been a disgrace. The problems should have been admitted to publicly, and a promise for a solution with a deadline date. After 20 years with Apple this was the worst display if customer service I have ever experienced from them. Reminded me of HP.

Hi folks, I noticed this thread ( Reboot fail after installing El Capitan help!! ) and as far as my little brains can understand, it seems that updating from an earlier OSX version (like for instance Yosemite) is what brings problems while doing a new install doesn't. Apparently one has to first remove certain 'kexts'... Hope this helps. And to people that can't reboot in safe mode or recovery mode: you're not alone, it was like that in my case too. I bought a second hand, older model Mac Mini which had been updated by the seller prior to shipping it to me. When I got stuck in the updating process (from 10.11.0 to 10.11.1) I took it to an iCentre and they re-installed a fresh copy of El Capitan, telling me it was definitively not a hardware problem. Since I bought it as a backup to continue working on when my present Mac Mini breaks down (which I need for my job), I don't use it at the moment and never bothered to try updating a second time, so I can't confirm if a new install works after an update or not.
