Hi all, after upgrading to IOs 9.1 today through itunes I'm unable to type and search any name in the contacts stored. Contacts are there but I'm now bound to scroll and type-search is showing no results. Also, after rebooting the apps aren't closing. I can close them the usual way but the apps which are open remain open even after rebooting it. I get the same page where I left the app on.
Please advise.

Hi, I have also this issue after upgrading to IOS 9.1 through the wifi.
The workaround for now is to search contacts by using "central search" (swipe right on home screen)
This is solution for me: Go to Contacts, than click on the Groups and click Done.

Just one more thing, is it ok for the apps to remain open even after rebooting iphone?
Sorry, but the solution I wrote is only for the first part of your problem. Btw. I have the same issue with apps you wrote.
i am not getting the groups icon. My phone is showing a circle symbol in contacts app instead of groups and on clicking that nothing happens.
Any solution for that?
yes bro, you have to have one email account configured in the email client of iphone. Then go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Click on the email account configured>turn on the Contacts button. Close settings, close contacts, open contacts again and you should be able to see 'Groups' on the top left corner in contacts. If you still don't see this, close contacts again, re-open it should be there... cheers!!
I have the same problem on iPhone 4s after upgrading - applying the fix 'go to to groups then cancel' works, but if come out of contacts and then go back in problem resurfaces! Same if turn phone off then again.
Clearly a problem here for Apple

Hard reset didn't help me on my iphone 6 and I didn't try soft reset. Option suggested by piskotx79 in his second comment helped me but I haven't tried rebooting it yet. Good luck
Did both resets - no avail - thanks for suggestion but have come around to opinion that it is an iOS problem which needs apple's attention.
Unless someone else has alternative fix.
Resetting mine got me stuck on the apple screen and I had to do a full recovery - fun times! đ
problem is still there... *sigh*

It appears to work if you leave set for all contacts but fails if you select a particular group.
Interested if works for others, only a get round I know but lets hope it helps.
