This has also happened to be since the 9.1 /9.2 update (iphone 4s) - I even bought a new battery thinking that was the issue. My new battery is now at 12% have lasted all of seven hours on standby. The phone is virtually useless to me draining at this rate. I would really love to see some kind of response from Apple on this,. I have done every step described to conserve power and this is the most I can get out of it now with a new battery that I paid €40 for.

No apps running location and facebook keychain off and it cannot hold a charge at all you can actually see the percentage ticking down it is ridiculous.

If you did not have Apple replace the battery you have forfeited all support from Apple. And if you replaced it without first having Apple test it you probably replaced it for no reason at all. 99% of the time excessive battery drain is the result of a bad or misbehaving app. You can try this:

Yes than you for linking me to your page of suggestions I already stated that I had tried. The phone is not under warranty any longer so where or not apple will support the device is not an issue. The issue here which you seem above al to be less than deftly avoiding is that the internet is AWASH with complaints of EXACTLY this type on all models which according your "expert" appley opinion has nothing to do with Apple, everyone just downloade a rogue app at the same time... such odds! I haven't downloaded an app in donkeys. But even I can see in my non expert opinion that there is something very sinister going on with the lasts upgrade and how peoples phones are behaving.

If anyone has some real advise as to where it will ever be fixed or I should jack in the apple fan club and go android. let me know,

The Internet is awash with people who claim to have been kidnapped by aliens also. There are 700 million iPhones in use. A few of them will have problems like yours. And EVERY ONE of those with a problem will post about it, probably multiple times. The other 699.9 million won't bother post and say "I get fantastic battery life with my iPhone." )Actually, one will. I get fantastic battery life with my family's 2 iPhones (6 and 4S) and 2 iPads, all on 9.2.) So you get a very skewed view of what a problem really is. I suggest you get an Android phone, so you can complain in the Android forums. My associate with a Samsung phone keeps it plugged in at his desk, because if he doesn't the battery dies in a few hours.

BTW, the link I posted is not mine. It is from an expert in the problem, and the form is awash in posts from people who found it helpful. I'm sorry you didn't, but there's a very high probably you ruined your phone by replacing the battery yourself with an inferior battery. All you can buy are inferior batteries; Apple does not sell parts, so any part that you install in an iPhone is either counterfeit or scavenged from a broken or stolen phone.

Hi folks

I upgraded to 9.2 only at +/-1PM (GMT+1) and for the first time since the tragic 9.1, my battery usage/standby seems correct. I hope my problem is solved and won't appear again.

I was used to check for exemple: 50min usage + 1H standby after only 1H unplugged from 100% charging (1H50 to total battery draining after only 1H... maybe a new proof for Einstein's theories). Since 9.2, I have at this moment 25min usage + 5H25 standby and 86% battery (+/-4 years old battery), which seems to reflect the real usage. Nevertheless with 9.1 and a very limited usage my device was completely off within 5/6H.

I haven't done anything special, just an upgrade via iTunes with my previous and usual content.

Sorry to read some of us still have the issue.

A reply for new readers, apologies to open a necro thread.

There are many 'new' iPhone batteries sold on the internet and places such as eBay that are rebadged 'used' batteries.

If they are tested with an appropriate battery app (jail broken phone only I think) or you can go to an Apple Store and have them test the device, the battery may have hundreds of charge cycles.

Find a supplier of guaranteed 'new' batteries and try again with a replacement.

PS. My battery killers as of the date of my post is:

Audible 'Background Activity' 72%

Phone 'Low Signal' 17%

Siri 'Low Siglnal 6%

Home & Lock Screen 5%

This forum's time out for editing is way too short!

After fitting guaranteed 'new' battery (2 charge cycles) iPhone 4s iOS 9.2.1

My battery killers as of the date of my post after DFU mode (Device Firmware Upgrade) restore as new phone, then iCloud restore with manual install of minimal apps are:

Audible 'Background Activity' 72%

Phone 'Low Signal' 17%

Siri 'Low Signal 6%

Home & Lock Screen 5%

So in my case an app 'Audible' is draining my battery overnight.

there are ZERO new batteries available anywhere, as Apple does not sell batteries or any other iPhone parts on the open market. They only sell to authorized Apple service providers for their own use in making repairs.

If you have a Mac you can run a basic check of your iPhone battery with Coconutbattery. Tests must be performed with a fully charged device.

Mine (near been replaced) is quite healthy with 86% of capacity despite 950 load cycles (out of a 1000 theoretical capacity). I am sure the load cycles have been increasing since 9.1.

I have still a battery draining, but partly solved with 9.2. I am testing the 9.3 and there is no improvement for that problem, but with the beta test, you can send reports to Apple, which I did.

Even with all apps closed manually, the battery usage data is increasing on his own, despite the phone is on standby mode. Only a force restart helps.

A tech guy at the genius bar told me I was not the only one, but he has no instruction from Apple.

I think testing the 9.3 beta (easy to enroll) and reporting battery draining will help those who are concerned by this "ghost use" of the phone.

All I can say is my battery showed a cycle count of 2 when I installed it, I'm up to 52 now after a few months of use, maybe they can reset the chip on the phone? Hope not! Linking to the site I bought the battery from would I imagine be not allowed here, it is a UK based company found from a YouTube video about Apple batteries. Anyway the phone does now hold its charge normally so long as I implicitly close Audible with double tap home button then swipe action.

Yes it is the app to play Audio Books, Audible an Amazon company. The app does keep playing my book when the phone is locked through bluetooth, so I guess that was draining the battery, though it was paused when I turned off my bluetooth speaker. Lesson learned.
