What is "followupd"?
Found this in my notifications center and nobody seems to know what it is. there is no help under 10.11 on my Mac that recognizes it.

some have reported seeing it with 10.11.1 when it did not exist previously with 10.11.0
It might be Apple snuck it in during the update.
Im about to delete these files
used finder/go to find the locations after using activity monitor on the open files and ports tab to see the various locations of related processes
i make aliases once i find these hidden locations and put the alias to the folder on desktop to find easy again later if the file returns again. Im on a mission to annihilate this bothersome beastie
The below corefollowup folder had a .db file in it which i already deleted. and am now about to delete the exec file in above image, and other related files found in activity monitor
I have been experimenting and discovered that it only appears on my Macs when i have airdrop allowed
i changed it to 'nobody' in permissions in the airdrop on finder, restarted my mac, and its gone
However, i need to confirm it because i also removed facebook account from the accounts settings, and it may be something to do with that
However, i am convinced it is airdrop since it allows iOS devices to transfer files to OSX, because of the fact that when i airdrop a file from my iPad or iPhone to the Mac, a notification banner and sound pops out from the right side of screen, and also, in notifications settings in OSX El Capitan, there is NO airdrop present to deactivate banners and sounds, and as soon as i airdrop a file to mac, followupd appears in the notifications again, with ALL settings reactivated to banners and sounds.
Hence, even if you deactivate all tickboxes in followupd, as soon as you airdrop to Mac from another device, it is instantly reinstated
Try it out yourselves please so we can all confirm this issue i managed to get rid of it by preventing airdrop, and now at last NO FOLLOWUPD
if it doesnt work then its facebook. remove FB from internet accounts if so.. but for sure it is Airdrop settings which is also now being discussed on the internet for a security issue that can be compromised by hackers
set airdrop to NO ONE
As a last note, i wold like to express my extreme dissatisfaction with OSX that it is not possibvle to completely deactivate notifications, rather, am forced to allow one minute open (10:00 pm to 9:59 pm) which still brings me a once a day mega intrusion into my privacy and workflow. It seems that Apple wish to force engagement in social networks and hassle me all the time. I hate notifications, and never use them, and in fact am extremely against them, for they are a result of marketing and abuse of the consumer. Apple has now targeted the average consumer joe for media consumption, social networking (serve ads to the hungry consumers), and has forgotten why Mac was so popular with content creators, graphic artists, movie editors, sound engineers and so on.. the Mac is now a mere media consumption device. Safari keylogs everything, cant type a url without a dropdown showing me all search suggestions, and only deleting history or private browsing will allow a semi acceptable browsing experience, but i am constantly spending hours trying to prevent safari, google search, and so on from trying to read, keylog and serve me with ad based search suggestions, and gather my data.
A disgusted customer
CONFIRMED!
its airdrop settings. i removed permission and set airdrop to 'no one' on my macbook air and imac, which still had followupd on them (im on Mac Mini right now)
Both then were clear of folowupd after restart
Just set airdrop in finder to 'no one'
and its gone!
That's good to know. But what does this one actually do?
Better yet, not have it there at all if it is something we don't or shouldn't have a choice about changing anything for, like notifications. I don't get why it is there.
