iMovie not working with El Capitan

Is anyone else having an issue with iMovie not importing or creating a new movie? Ever since the new update it stopped working properly and when I updated to El Capitan it stopped working completely. The message I get when trying to make a new movie is "The operation could not be completed. No other information is available about the problem." When I try to import it doesn't do anything just stays on the screen to choose the video. This is quite frustrating not a big fan of this update at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated .
