Certain apps won't update - Error 404 "URL ... could not be found"

Yesterday, two apps that were listed in the Updates section of iTunes failed to update because of a 404 error; today, two more joined the list. Has anyone else had problems with certain apps not updating when they supposedly should? Most of the apps listed in the Updates section updated successfully, but I've never had any not update successfully, and now there are 4 over a span of two days:

Clock IT - Modern Nightstand Music Alarm

Grab for Instagram - Your Instagram Companion

Minesweeper Touch - Play by your finger

WorkFlowy

The text of the pop-up error message reads

The URL "http://<app link>" could not be found on the server.

When examining the Downloads listings, it reveals the error # as 404:

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

Walking Dead finally updated on Macbook along with other apps. Yay!

Deleting the item was a temporary fix - restarting iTunes brought them back :-(

It's good to know that I'm not the only one. Are people just waiting out this problem? The worst part is that iTunes throws me a popup every 30 minutes telling me the download failed. 😠

I am getting the same problem as well with The Room 3.....downloads fine on device but when I go into itunes on my Mac I get the download error and have to login each time for it to check for apps to download. Very frustrating!

This happened to me several weeks ago with the Purify ad blocker app - downloaded ok on my iPhone 6 Plus, would not download on my Mac. But that seems to have corrected itself. Today I am seeing the same thing except with the Firefox web browser app. This is really frustrating as I like to keep a copy of all purchased apps on my computer to make reinstalling go faster.
