How to connect my Ipad to quicktime player

I wish to record my ipad mini 1 screen

I have an Apple mac which is fairly new bought in 2014

I have entered quicktime player and selected new movie recording

I have then clicked the arrow where you can select a camera but the only one which comes up is the mac face time camera but would like my ipad screen

Please someone help if you have any info on this have been trying to work this out for ages!
