Preview app shows black image

Hi, after upgrading to El Capitan, some of my jpeg images open in Preview as a solid black image, and sometimes a vivid green image. The thumbnails look okay, and I can open the images in any other image browser without a problem, except Preview.

If I select a group of jpeg's and hit Open, then all the images show correctly in Preview. The problem is only when I open each one separately. I have re-saved some of the images in Photoshop (as to eliminate any unknown problem) but still cannot see them in Preview. If I use Export... menu option, the problem persists.

I have a Mac Mini Late 2014 with 16GB of RAM. Any ideas would be appreciated!
