Hey, I'm planning to set up my computer for mainstage for my band. I have a Roland Fantom X8 workstation and was wondering if i could use this as a midi controller and keyboard. I also want to know how to send the output from my computer's headphone jack to a DI box with only one 1/4 inch input. What gear would i use for this?

You can connect the Roland Fantom X8 to the Mac with a USB cable and use it as a controller and also use the X8 sounds. Be careful not to create a MIDI feedback loop. Connecting to a DI with only one 1/4 input would require an adapter to convert the stereo output fro the Mac to a mono signal.
You will have better performance if you use an audio interface rather than the headphone out.
I'd be interested in whether you get the Fantom X8 USB working because I've never got my X7 to work to my macbook pro...
