Can you get a virus/trojan in .Spotlight-V100

Hi, I'm trying really hard to keep a clean system,

I've been running bitdefender scans on my MBP system and the only result I ever get is trojan threats being found in my .Spotlight-V100 and .Spotlight-V100/Store-V2 folders.

I know that spotlight and it's folders should only contain a main reference to all files on my system but it still has me concerned.

I do get spam emails with spammy trojan attachments once in a while which Bitdefender always notifies me have been dealt with when received. I'm wondering if in some cases Spotlight indexes these spam files as they're being deleted and it's this record which is being flagged rather than the real threat itself. If so it can be ignored.

I guess my main question is 'Can .Spotlight-V100 get a virus!

MacBook Pro (17-inch Late 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), null
