Why are both Microsoft word and Powerpoint not available for split screen? Why is split screen not available for all applications?

What version are you using? Split View works for me with OS X 10.11.1 and Word/PowerPoint in Microsoft Office for Mac 2016.

I have Mac word / powerpoint 2011, so that is probably why it does not work. Thank you. I did not think of this.
