I am having trouble using the Harmony Ultimate Home to control ATV4g apps that use the Apple Remote's touch surface. The 'Direction Up', 'Direction Down'. et al. gestures (swipes) available on the Harmony hand unit's touch surface do not appear to map 1:1 to the Apple Remote's swipe gestures. Since ATV4g apps are free to - encouraged to - leverage the Apple Remote's gesture capabilities, this is making my Harmony Home Ultimate of limited use with ATV4g. This is not a Apple problem - but providing feedback on this topic for Harmony users' benefit.
As best I can tell, my Harmony Smart Control remote is missing at least one critical command, swipe up (direction up while watching a video, for example). It does appear to be able to execute the swipe down command (via the direction down key press) but is not capable of executing the swipe up command while watching a video.
For example, when watching a video (Youtube, Hulu, etc) if you swipe up on the Apple TV remote it reveals a custom menu (On Hulu Live it shows what's playing next and allows you to add the current show to your DVR). However, although you can click up to get the swipe up menu, clicking down does not give you the swipe up menu.
Will have to wait until users start receiving units to determine.
Well?
Yes, you can navigate, play/pause, Rew/FF. No Siri or keyboard input yet using either the handheld remote or the Harmony Remote app.
How did you get it to work? We cannot pair the Siri Remote with our Harmony One remote. Advise would be so appreciated. Thanks!
Mine works at least it turns on, I was having to much fun with the new remote to try anything else. I didnt do anything special or change any settings on the remote.
My old white plastic Apple TV remote works with the Apple TV 4th gen (including navigation in text entry). If you have a remote control you can program I'd configure it to be an older Apple TV remote and use that profile.
The Siri remote is Bluetooth - so you won't be able to pair or learn that (even if your remote control system has Bluetooth support for PS3 type remotes I very much doubt it will have Siri remote support yet).
Does yours have the hub, or is it a standalone remote? My Harmony Home uses the Bluetooth/IR hub, and I didn't have to replace my ATV2 with the new ATV4 in Devices or Activities. Maybe that's why your particular device is only able to power it on/off?
I use a Harmony Touch together with a Harmony Hub. Replaced the 3. Generation with the new 4. Generation (hardware). Didn't make any adjustments on the Harmony configuration and it works. Can use it for search (move to the keyboard on the screen) etc. The new Apple TV 4th generation isn't available at the Logitech hardware database at the moment. Search with the Model No. didn't show a result.
Same with me. I had Apple TV and a Harmony Remote and it works like a charm with the new one. In face except for Siri its a much better experience since you can scroll music easily without swiping forever.
SO
logitech harmony remotes (standalone) don't work with the new Apple TV .
you need the hub to make it work?
Yes they do, I have an older stand alone and it works fine b
